Home › Heirs Of The Prophets › About Imam Ahmad Ibn Al Hanbal
He was even more ascetic [than Sufyan]. He lived simply and patiently endured difficult conditions. His livelihood was from some stores which he inherited from his father. The income he took from them was less than twenty dirhams a month. He died and did not leave anything other than a few pieces of silver wrapped in a rag, the weight of which was less than half a dirham. He left a debt that was paid for from his stores, despite the abundant wealth offered to him by rulers.
